A modest rear extension to a traditional town property, 7 Victoria Street is currently undergoing a considered renovation to unlock more usable internal space over three storeys.
Situated in a prime location in Alderney, this mid-terrace high street property boasts a rich historical background. The project was designed with two main objectives in mind: to preserve and enhance the existing ground-floor retail space while simultaneously creating a spacious three-bedroom apartment across the upper two floors.
To achieve this, the design implemented a thoughtful rear extension that expanded the property vertically over two levels, complemented by the addition of a large flat-roof dormer that maximized natural light and space on the upper floors. Given that the property had remained largely untouched for decades, the renovation process required a complete overhaul of the interior.
This extensive renovation works involved significant upgrades to the building’s fabric to ensure compliance with modern standards for thermal efficiency, fire safety, and acoustic performance. These improvements not only revitalized the structure but also created a comfortable and safe living environment, seamlessly blending contemporary living with the property’s historical charm.
