This project was assessed in accordance with the Island Development Plan Policy GP16(A) and focused on the conversion of a redundant former packing shed into a residential dwelling.
A comprehensive package of documentation was prepared for planning approval, which included a design that minimized alterations to the existing structure. The proposal effectively utilized existing openings to create a one-bedroom dwelling and incorporated thermal upgrade specifications to meet the Guernsey Technical Standards, supported by a structural report authored by a qualified Structural Engineer.
The successful planning application has paved the way for further proposals aimed at securing planning permission for the demolition and reconstruction of the dwelling under IDP GP16(B) policy. With a planned 20% increase in floor area and volume, this redevelopment promises to provide a thoughtfully designed one-bedroom home, set within a natural landscape and surrounded by expansive fields.
